If you like hiking, the dense forests of Magelang Indonesia are worth a try. But don't worry, here we will do a little tracking across the open and visit a church that looks majestic above the hills and the surrounding forest. The Chicken Church, as people call it, is a very large building, shaped like a bird. There is a misperception of the mention, because the initiators and founders of the church wanted the church to be shaped like a dove.

The man behind the structure of the "Chicken Church" was Daniel Alamsjah, who received a sacred vision, and inspired him to build a dove church. He chose a wooded hill near Magelang to build his pious homage, and perhaps created the most bird-like structure in the world, complete with a gigantic chirping head, and ornate tail feathers.

The house of prayer opened its doors (or spread its wings) in the 1990s. The newly established church welcomes every faith wishing to travel, including Buddhists, Muslims and Christians, holding services upstairs, while downstairs provides rehabilitation and youth outreach, among other charitable services.

Unfortunately, the project was discontinued in 2000 when further construction costs became too high. The poor hen-dove church was emptied, and left in the woods. The Chicken Church continued to suffer damage over the years.

But lately this place has started to get some attention, and was cleaned up and turned into a worthy tourist attraction. Local artists also took part in beautifying the building by decorating the interior walls. We can see the work of murals showing local mythology and history, and there is a small cafe located at the back of the chicken that sells traditional food that we can enjoy while witnessing the splendor of the Geraja Ayam building.

We can even climb the top of the building to the top of the bird's head, to see a 360-degree view that is truly an amazing experience that will not be forgotten. The location of the Chicken Church is very interesting, it is above the hills, and the surroundings are forest and a bit far from settlements. We will be fascinated by the splendor of the building after arriving at the location.
